Skid Mounted Chemical Dosing Packages to Algeria


Demonstrating the truly international nature of the company, Gilwood Fabricators Company Ltd have recently been involved in a huge project transporting 35 tonnes of machinery from Heywood in Lancashire to an oil company in Algeria.

This huge undertaking included a three-day trek along B roads to move the order of skid mounted chemical dosing packages to Hull in order for them to shipped out to Algeria. Telephone wires and telegraph poles had to be removed in advance to accommodate one unit which was the size of a small house.

The £500,000 project took ten weeks to complete and is the largest product that the company has ever manufactured, requiring special lifting springs to manoeuvre the units onto HGVs provided by a specialist transport company.

Difficult to build on site because of limited resources, Gilwood Fabricators can undertake such projects as, unlike other engineering firms, they can manufacture not just the base or tank, but the whole unit, meaning that they regularly take orders from far and wide, including not only Algeria, but Australia and America too.
