Petrochemical - Electrolytic Cells

Gilwood produce electrolytic cells, to customers' unique requirements. Producing electrolytic cells is a testament to the production standards our skilled engineers can achieve.

Electrolytic cells can be used to produce fluorine, hydrogen and aluminium. The cell consists of two principle components; the bath complete with jacket and skirts. The cell contains an acidic Electrolyte which is maintained at a high temperature. A DC electrical current is passed through the electrolyte via carbon anodes which results in equal volumes of fluorine and hydrogen gasses being produced.

Our products are fully welded and tested during the manufacturing process. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) carried out in-house includes Leak Test, Helium Leak Test, Hydraulic Pressure Test, Vacuum Test, Heat Treatment and Proof Load Test. Finishing processes include bead and shot blasting, polishing, painting, pickling and passivating, products can also be glass lined.
